| Taktshang
is the most recognised of monastery in Bhutan.
The monastery clings precariously to a cliff-top at
an altitude of 3120 metres, sanding over 700 metres above the bottom
of Paro valley it is an awesome sight.

The name Taktshang means 'Tiger's nest' and legend
states that Guru Rinpoche flew there on the back of a tiger. Several
years ago, the monastery suffered a large fire, and much of it burned
to the ground. Since then, a reconstruction effort has seen this national
symbol regain is former glory. The monastery has seven temples which
can all be visited.
