Protests in Peru: Widespread protests and roadblocks in Peru have been causing disruption to our tour itineraries. Having sought the advice of our local partners and crew in Peru, we have been informed that local protests have at times turned violent. As a consequence of these protests and in order to protect the safety and security of clients and crew, it may be necessary to modify parts of our tour itineraries at extremely short notice. Due to the unpredictable nature, location and duration of these protests, clients will be kept informed by their Tour Leader of any developments or situations which may affect the tour which they are travelling on. Any decision to modify our tour itineraries will be taken in conjunction with our Operations Department and / or UK Foreign Office travel advice.
Inca Trail permits and deposits: Effective from Monday 22.06.09, all clients making a new booking for an Overland or Small Group tour will be required to pay an Inca trek deposit and fill out a booking form in order to secure their place. Earthquake - Honduras: An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale took place on 28 May off the coast of Honduras near to the Bay Islands (very approximately 300 kms from Tegucigalpa). The tremors from the quake were felt throughout Honduras and neighbouring countries. Minor damage has been reported, with the loss of two lives (Honduran Nationals). An earlier issued Tsunami warning has now been cancelled. The following groups were in Copan, Honduras at the time of the earthquake and have now left Honduras and arrived safe and sound in Managua, Nicaragua as per normal itinerary: CA14 - ex-Belize City 14.05.09 CAC3 - ex-Belize City 14.05.09 Clients are staying at the Hotel Alhambra, Granada, Nicaragua Tel: ++505 - 2252 - 4486 on Friday 29.05 and Saturday 30.05, departing 08.45 local time on Sunday 31.05 if any worried friends or relatives wish to make contact. Changes to Kumuka tour pricing: Kumuka Worldwide have recently made some changes to their tour pricing to comply with ACCC legislation in Australia which came into effect on the 25th of May 2009. The changes mean that Kumuka will no longer have separate tour funds and local payments, and in effect they have now been merged into one single tour price. Due to currency considerations the total price in some cases may be higher than the tour price and local payment added together. For more information scroll down to the link below.
Mexico Swine Flu Update: The UK Foreign Office is no longer advising against all non essential travel to Mexico. This follows a decline in the number of reported new swine influenza cases in Mexico since its peak on 26 April 2009 although obviously all visitors should continue to take precautions to avoid exposure to Swine Flu. All tours after 10.07.09 will be running through Mexico as normal. To avoid inconveniencing clients who will likely have made alternative arrangements, tours CA0013 (28.06.09 - 10.07.09) and CAC3R (18.06.09 - 10.07.09) will still finish in Belize City as re-scheduled.

Swine Flu, Mexico - update: Tour CA13, which was due to depart from Playa del Carmen (Mexico)on 14.05.09, has now been re-routed to commence from Belize City on 14.05.09. It is expected that the remainder of the itinerary will continue as normal. Our reservations team will shortly be contacting our clients and agents with full details about this change. As the Swine Flu situation continues to develop daily, we will continue to monitor this situation carefully and will update our website promptly of any amendments or changes which affect any of our tours in the region.
Dengue Fever, Argentina: There have been a number of recent cases of Dengue Fever in Argentina, notably in the provinces of Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones, Formosa, Salta and Jujuy. Cases have also been reported in the capital, Buenos Aires, and the surrounding BsAs province. We strongly recommend you take precautions against mosquito bites.
Inca Trail and passport updates: Kumuka apply for your Inca Trail permit with the passport details that you supply us with. New Inca Trail regulations mean that if you subsequently re-new your passport, you must either carry your oiginal passport on the trail with you OR provide Kumuka with scans of both your old AND new passport at least 2 weeks prior to your trail departure date for which a fee of USD10 will be payable locally.
