Paul Stephens says:
What a time we had. After our initial meeting, we were not sure what we had got ourselves into - however, what a blast. I think that we were lucky with our group and that we all got along well. The roster to assist was a good idea and most times I found I was helping out anyways. Good way to get involved and talk to others. Martin, Patrick and our cook Joseph were just fantatstic. At one point our card would not work at ATM's. Martin allowed us to call home to ensure that it had not stops placed. It was just Mastercard and the place we were in. He did not need to do this but thank god he was the type of person he was. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.
From Day 1 the need for cleanliness was expressed by Patrick & the team. I am not aware of anyone having dire health issues whilst away. I am sure that if we did not have the dettol bottle on the bus, or wash hands before each meal and rinse twice or wash the dishes and rinse twice that at least diahrea would have been rife. The truck was constantly cleaned and the food prep was clean and responsibly done. Well done Kumuka for instigating these measurees for cleanliness and hygeine.
Fantastic Holiday of a lifetime. Good Memories, great friends made.
Always wanted to go to Africa and decided that it is too big to do at one time and settled on East Africa as I also wanted to see Zanzibar(a definite highlight) and we could then get to Egypt easily.
Highlights: Definitely the balloon over the Masai Mara with a fantastic Breakfast after and seeing the Wilderbeast come ovber the horizon just up from us) and stretch the length of what we could see. My wife was not going to come but did and thoroughly enjoyed it.What a Fantatsic Holiday. Some parts are hard going (some roads a little bumpy) but all in all a lot of fun.
Went to see the migration asnd was not disappointed. Saw all the big 5, a deer being born, a couple of chases by leopards with 1 ending up in a kill. Sounds gory but until you experience it - so fast and your adrenalin is pumping for both the victim and the chaser. We could not have asked for a better tour leader in Patrick not deiver in Martin and compliments to the Chef. The food was fantastic, especially when you consider that the lighting was not always the best and there are a coupole of gas burners and sometimes a cooking pit. Soups were wonderful and plenty of veges and fruit - Always plenty. They also did not mind when we decided a desert would be good and we cooked Banana & Pineapple fritters. There were no repurcussions if you did not wish to partake in any of the optionals - this was refershing. A highlight was the Hot Air Balloon over the Masai Mara - unbeleiveable landing in amongst Zebras, Wilderbeasts. Followed by a breakfast to remember - sipping champagne, G & T's & bloody Marys. Animals Animals everywhere - at campsites we saw Cropcodiles, hippos, meercat types, Elephants, Zebras, Bush Pigs to name a few. A definite highlight was Zanzibar - SoneTown steeped in History, snorkelling, Dolphin swims and to top off the beach to the North. White white sand, blue blue waters, brilliant sunshine and $5 cocktails at sunset. Beautiful and romantic. Not sure that anyone wanted the holiday to end. Great times, great organisation, great people what more could anyone want.
